About Math Quest
Math Quest is a structured, multi-round mathematics competition open to:
- All students currently enrolled in Moonpreneur programs — this year, every child enrolled in any Moonpreneur program is automatically enrolled in the competition.
- External students who register to participate.
The competition evaluates students across multiple dimensions, including foundational understanding, logical reasoning, speed, mental agility, conceptual clarity, and presentation skills, through a series of progressive elimination rounds.
Categories
The competition consists of 4 grade-combined categories.
Competition Rounds Overview
The competition consists of 4 rounds:
Round 1 - Gamified Speed Round [30 mins]
Purpose: To test mental agility, speed, focus, accuracy, and performance in a fun, fast-paced challenge.
Format
- Moonpreneur’s In-House Math Games – Powered by engaging, competitive games designed specifically for students.
- Category-Based Challenges – Students compete in games aligned with their specific math skills and categories.
- Real-Time Multiplayer Competition – All participants compete simultaneously for an exciting, fair-play experience.
- Level-Based Progression – Challenges become progressively more engaging as students advance through different levels.
- Live Leaderboard – Students can track their scores and ranking in real time as the competition unfolds.
Evaluation Parameters
- Speed & Quick Thinking
- Accuracy & Precision
- Strategic Progression
- Focus & Time Management
Your Gamified Speed Round score carries 20% of the total score used to determine who advances to the Top Finalists!
Round 2 - Online Quiz Qualifier Round [70 mins]
Purpose: To assess students’ conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, accuracy, and ability to solve questions quickly and confidently.
Format
- This Online Quiz Round consists of 2 Sessions with a total duration of 70 mins.
- Each Session has 20 questions.
- Session 1 has a mix of different levels of questions (easy, medium and hard level questions).
- Session 2 works on Adaptive Testing and is solely based on how the student performed in Session 1.
Assessment Criteria
The full score for each question will be awarded after careful evaluation by a Panel Evaluator based on the accuracy of the answer and the explanation in the Scratch Pad.
Your Online Quiz Qualifier Round score carries 30% of the total score used to determine who advances to the Top Finalists!
Only those who participate in Round 1 and Round 2 will be eligible to move to the SemiFinal Round.
Round 3 - SemiFinal Round - Live Oral Math Challenge
Purpose: Think. Explain. Shine! This round goes beyond getting the right answer — students showcase their conceptual clarity, reasoning, communication, confidence, and ability to think creatively on the spot.
Format
- One-on-One Live Assessment – Each student interacts directly with a panel evaluator.
- Approximately 9 Minutes Per Student – A focused, fast-paced assessment designed to bring out their best.
- Competition Curriculum – Questions are selected from the defined competition syllabus.
- Solve & Explain Live – Students must not only arrive at the answer but clearly explain their thinking and approach.
- Camera On, Confidence Up – Students should keep their camera on, be professionally dressed, and be fully prepared for their spotlight moment.
- Pen & Paper Ready – Keep a sheet of paper and pen handy for quick calculations and working out.
- Sit Like a Leader – Maintain good posture, stay attentive, and approach the round with confidence, focus, and a positive attitude.
Assessment Criteria
- Conceptual Clarity – Understanding the why behind the answer, not just the what.
- Logical Thinking – Presenting a clear, structured approach to solving the problem.
- Accuracy & Precision – Getting the mathematics right with careful execution.
- Confidence & Communication – Explaining ideas clearly, confidently, and effectively.
- Depth of Understanding – Demonstrating the ability to apply concepts, make connections, and think beyond the obvious.
Your scores from the Live Oral Math Challenge Round carries 50% of the total score used to determine who advances to the Top Finalists!
Round 4 - Grand Finale - Live Buzzer Round
Give every round your best — your combined score will decide who earns a place among the Top 10 Finalists!
Your performance across all three qualifying rounds will be combined into a 100% Finalist Score, determining the 10 students who advance to the Grand Finale.
Format
- Live buzzer-based competition.
- Question passes to next student if first response is incorrect.
- If the first student response is incorrect, then the question passes to the next fastest buzzer and that student can attempt the question for full scoring opportunity.
- Scores are given by: Judges scoring – 40%; Audience voting – 60%.
- Each question carries 15 marks total.
The Final Winners from each category will be announced immediately after the Live Buzzer Round.
